Ητο δε ανθρωπος τις εκ Ραμαθαιμ-σοφιμ, εκ του ορους Εφραιμ, και το ονομα αυτου Ελκανα, υιος του Ιεροαμ, υιου Ελιου, υιου Θοου, υιου Σουφ, Εφραθαιος.

English

My heart is established in the Lord, my horn is exalted in my God; my mouth is enlarged over my enemies, I have rejoiced in thy salvation.

كان رجل من رامتايم صوفيم من جبل افرايم اسمه ألقانة بن يروحام بن اليهو بن توحو بن صوف. هو افرايمي.

Και ειχεν ουτος δυο γυναικας· το ονομα της μιας Αννα, και το ονομα της δευτερας Φενιννα· η μεν Φενιννα ειχε τεκνα, η δε Αννα δεν ειχε τεκνα.

English

For there is none holy as the Lord, and there is none righteous as our God; there is none holy besides thee.

وله امرأتان اسم الواحدة حنّة واسم الاخرى فننّة. وكان لفننّة اولاد واما حنّة فلم يكن لها اولاد.

Ανεβαινε δε ο ανθρωπος ουτος εκ της πολεως αυτου κατ' ετος, δια να προσκυνηση και να προσφερη θυσιαν προς τον Κυριον των δυναμεων εν Σηλω. Και ησαν εκει οι δυο υιοι του Ηλει, Οφνει και Φινεες, ιερεις του Κυριου.

English

Boast not, and utter not high things; let not high-sounding words come out of your mouth, for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and God prepares his own designs.

وكان هذا الرجل يصعد من مدينته من سنة الى سنة ليسجد ويذبح لرب الجنود في شيلوه. وكان هناك ابنا عالي حفني وفينحاس كاهنا الرب.

Εφθασε δε η ημερα, καθ' ην εθυσιασεν ο Ελκανα και εδωκε μεριδας εις την Φενινναν την γυναικα αυτου και εις παντας τους υιους αυτης και τας θυγατερας αυτης.

English

The bow of the mighty has waxed feeble, and the weak have girded themselves with strength.

ولما كان الوقت وذبح القانة اعطى فننّة امرأته وجميع بنيها وبناتها انصبة.

εις δε την Ανναν εδωκε διπλασιαν μεριδα· διοτι ηγαπα την Ανναν· αλλ' ο Κυριος ειχε κλεισει την μητραν αυτης.

English

They that were full of bread are brought low; and the hungry have forsaken the land; for the barren has born seven, and she that abounded in children has waxed feeble.

واما حنّة فاعطاها نصيب اثنين لانه كان يحب حنّة. ولكن الرب كان قد اغلق رحمها.

Και η αντιζηλος αυτης παρωξυνεν αυτην σφοδρα, ωστε να καμνη αυτην να αδημονη, οτι ο Κυριος ειχε κλεισει την μητραν αυτης.

English

The Lord kills and makes alive; he brings down to the grave, and brings up.

وكانت ضرّتها تغيظها ايضا غيظا لاجل المراغمة. لان الرب اغلق رحمها.

Και ουτως εκαμνε κατ' ετος· οσακις ανεβαινεν εις τον οικον του Κυριου, ουτω παρωξυνεν αυτην· και εκεινη εκλαιε και δεν ετρωγεν.

English

The Lord makes poor, and makes rich; he brings low, and lifts up.

وهكذا صار سنة بعد سنة كلما صعدت الى بيت الرب هكذا كانت تغيظها. فبكت ولم تأكل.

Ειπε δε προς αυτην Ελκανα ο ανηρ αυτης, Αννα, δια τι κλαιεις; και δια τι δεν τρωγεις; και δια τι η καρδια σου ειναι τεθλιμμενη; δεν ειμαι εγω εις σε καλητερος παρα δεκα υιους;

English

He lifts up the poor from the earth, and raises the needy from the dunghill; to seat him with the princes of the people, and causing them to inherit the throne of glory:

فقال لها القانة رجلها يا حنّة لماذا تبكين ولماذا لا تأكلين ولماذا يكتئب قلبك. أما انا خير لك من عشرة بنين

ⲉϥϯ ⲛ̀ⲛⲓⲉⲩⲭⲏ ⲛ̀ⲛⲏ ⲉⲧⲧⲱⲃϩ ⲙ̀ⲙⲟϥ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁϥⲥⲙⲟⲩ ⲉ̀ⲛⲓⲣⲟⲙⲡⲓ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ⲛⲓⲑⲙⲏⲓ ϫⲉ ⲛ̀ⲛⲉϥϫⲉⲙϫⲟⲙ ⲛ̀ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⲛ̀ϫⲱⲣⲓ

Και εσηκωθη η Αννα, αφου εφαγον εν Σηλω και αφου επιον· ο δε Ηλει ο ιερευς εκαθητο επι καθεδρας, πλησιον του παραστατου της πυλης του ναου του Κυριου.

English

granting his petition to him that prays; and he blesses the years of the righteous, for by strength cannot man prevail.

فقامت حنّة بعد ما اكلوا في شيلوه وبعد ما شربوا. وعالي الكاهن جالس على الكرسي عند قائمة هيكل الرب.

ⲡϭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲉϥⲉⲑⲣⲉ ⲡⲉϥϫⲁϫⲓ ϣⲱⲛⲓ ⲡϭ̅ⲥ̅ ϥⲟⲩⲁⲃ

Και αυτη ητο καταπικραμενη την ψυχην και προσηυχετο εις τον Κυριον, κλαιουσα καθ' υπερβολην.

English

The Lord will weaken his adversary; the Lord is holy.

وهي مرّة النفس. فصلّت الى الرب وبكت بكاء

Και ηυχηθη ευχην, λεγουσα, Κυριε των δυναμεων, εαν επιβλεψης τωοντι εις την ταπεινωσιν της δουλης σου και με ενθυμηθης και δεν λησμονησης την δουλην σου, αλλα δωσης εις την δουλην σου τεκνον αρσενικον, τοτε θελω δωσει αυτο εις τον Κυριον πασας τας ημερας της ζωης αυτου, και ξυραφιον δεν θελει αναβη επι την κεφαλην αυτου.

English

And she left him there before the Lord, and departed to Armathaim: and the child ministered in the presence of the Lord before Heli the priest.

ونذرت نذرا وقالت يا رب الجنود ان نظرت نظرا الى مذلة امتك وذكرتني ولم تنس امتك بل اعطيت امتك زرع بشر فاني اعطيه للرب كل ايام حياته ولا يعلو راسه موسى.

Ενω δε αυτη εξηκολουθει προσευχομενη ενωπιον του Κυριου, ο Ηλει παρετηρει το στομα αυτης.

And the sons of Heli the priest were evil sons, not knowing the Lord.

وكان اذ اكثرت الصلاة امام الرب وعالي يلاحظ فاها.

Πλην η Αννα αυτη ελαλει εν τη καρδια αυτης· μονον τα χειλη αυτης εκινουντο, αλλ' η φωνη αυτης δεν ηκουετο· οθεν ο Ηλει ενομισεν οτι ητο μεθυσμενη.

English

And the priest’s claim from every one of the people that sacrificed was this: the servant of the priest came when the flesh was in seething, and a flesh-hook of three teeth was in his hand.

فان حنّة كانت تتكلم في قلبها وشفتاها فقط تتحركان وصوتها لم يسمع. ان عالي ظنّها سكرى.

Και ειπε προς αυτην ο Ηλει, Εως ποτε θελεις εισθαι μεθυουσα; αποβαλε τον οινον σου απο σου.

English

And he struck it into the great caldron, or into the brazen vessel, or into the pot, and whatever came up with the flesh-hook, the priest took for himself: so they did to all Israel that came to sacrifice to the Lord in Selom.

عربي (فانديك)

فقال لها عالي حتى متى تسكرين. انزعي خمرك عنك.

Και απεκριθη η Αννα και ειπεν, Ουχι, κυριε μου, εγω ειμαι γυνη κατατεθλιμμενη την ψυχην· ουτε οινον ουτε σικερα δεν επιον, αλλ' εξεχεα την ψυχην μου ενωπιον του Κυριου·

English

And before the fat was burnt for a sweet savour, the servant of the priest would come, and say to the man that sacrificed, Give flesh to roast for the priest, and I will by no means take of thee sodden flesh out of the caldron.

عربي (فانديك)

فاجابت حنّة وقالت لا يا سيدي. اني امرأة حزينة الروح ولم اشرب خمرا ولا مسكرا بل اسكب نفسي امام الرب.

μη υπολαβης την δουλην σου ως αχρειαν γυναικα· διοτι εκ του πληθους του πονου μου και της θλιψεως μου ελαλησα εως τωρα.

English

And if the man that sacrificed said, First let the fat be burned, as it is fit, and take for thyself of all things which thy soul desires: then he would say, Nay, for thou shalt give it me now; and if not I will take it by force.

لا تحسب امتك ابنة بليعال. لاني من كثرة كربتي وغيظي قد تكلمت الى الآن.

Τοτε απεκριθη ο Ηλει και ειπεν, Υπαγε εις ειρηνην· και ο Θεος του Ισραηλ ας σοι δωση την αιτησιν σου, την οποιαν ητησας παρ' αυτου.

So the sin of the young men was very great before the Lord, for they set at nought the offering of the Lord.

فاجاب عالي وقال اذهبي بسلام واله اسرائيل يعطيك سؤلك الذي سألته من لدنه.

Η δε ειπεν, Ειθε η δουλη σου να ευρη χαριν εις τους οφθαλμους σου. Τοτε απηλθεν η γυνη εις την οδον αυτης και εφαγε, και το προσωπον αυτης δεν ητο πλεον σκυθρωπον.

And Samuel ministered before the Lord, a child girt with a linen ephod.

فقالت لتجد جاريتك نعمة في عينيك. ثم مضت المرأة في طريقها واكلت ولم يكن وجهها بعد مغيّرا

Και το πρωι εσηκωθησαν ενωρις, και προσκυνησαντες ενωπιον του Κυριου, επεστρεψαν και ηλθον εις την οικιαν αυτων εις Ραμαθ. Και ο Ελκανα εγνωρισεν Ανναν την γυναικα αυτου· και ο Κυριος ενεθυμηθη αυτην.

English

And his mother made him a little doublet, and brought it to him from year to year, in her going up in company with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice.

وبكروا في الصباح وسجدوا امام الرب ورجعوا وجاءوا الى بيتهم في الرامة. وعرف ألقانة امرأته حنّة والرب ذكرها.

Και οτε επληρωθησαν αι ημεραι αφοτου η Αννα συνελαβεν, εγεννησεν υιον και εκαλεσε το ονομα αυτου Σαμουηλ, Διοτι παρα Κυριου ητησα αυτον, ειπε.

English

And Heli blessed Helcana and his wife, saying The Lord recompense to thee seed of this woman, in return for the loan which thou hast lent to the Lord: and the man returned to his place.

وكان في مدار السنة ان حنّة حبلت وولدت ابنا ودعت اسمه صموئيل قائلة لاني من الرب سألته.

Και ανεβη ο ανθρωπος Ελκανα και πας ο οικος αυτου, δια να προσφερη προς τον Κυριον την ετησιον θυσιαν και την ευχην αυτου.

English

And the Lord visited Anna, and she bore yet three sons, and two daughters. And the child Samuel grew before the Lord.

وصعد الرجل ألقانة وجميع بيته ليذبح للرب الذبيحة السنوية ونذره.

Αλλ' η Αννα δεν ανεβη· διοτι ειπε προς τον ανδρα αυτης, Δεν θελω αναβη εωσου το παιδιον απογαλακτισθη· και τοτε θελω φερει αυτο, δια να εμφανισθη ενωπιον του Κυριου και εκει να κατοικη διαπαντος.

English

And Heli was very old, and he heard what his sons did to the children of Israel.

ولكن حنّة لم تصعد لانها قالت لرجلها متى فطم الصبي آتي به ليتراءى امام الرب ويقيم هناك الى الابد.

Και ειπε προς αυτην Ελκανα ο ανηρ αυτης, Καμε ο, τι σοι φαινεται καλον· καθου εωσου απογαλακτισης αυτο· μονον ο Κυριος να εκπληρωση τον λογον αυτου. Και εκαθισεν η γυνη και εθηλαζε τον υιον αυτης, εωσου απεγαλακτισεν αυτον.

And he said to them, Why do ye according to this thing, which I hear from the mouth of all the people of the Lord?

فقال لها القانة رجلها اعملي ما يحسن في عينيك. امكثي حتى تفطميه. انما الرب يقيم كلامه. فمكثت المرأة وارضعت ابنها حتى فطمته

Και αφου απεγαλακτισεν αυτον, ανεβιβασεν αυτον μεθ' εαυτης, μετα τριων μοσχων και ενος εφα αλευρου και ασκου οινου, και εφερεν αυτον εις τον οικον του Κυριου εν Σηλω· το δε παιδιον ητο μικρον.

English

Nay my sons, for the report which I hear is not good; do not so, for the reports which I hear are not good, so that the people do not serve God.

ثم حين فطمته اصعدته معها بثلاثة ثيران وايفة دقيق وزق خمر وأتت به الى الرب في شيلوه والصبي صغير.

Και εσφαξαν τον μοσχον και εφεραν το παιδιον προς τον Ηλει.

English

If a man should at all sin against another, then shall they pray for him to the Lord; but if a man sin against the Lord, who shall intreat for him? But they hearkened not to the voice of their father, because the Lord would by all means destroy them.

فذبحوا الثور وجاءوا بالصبي الى عالي.

Και ειπεν η Αννα, Ω, κυριε μου ζη η ψυχη σου, κυριε μου, εγω ειμαι η γυνη, ητις εσταθη ενταυθα πλησιον σου, δεομενη του Κυριου·

And the child Samuel advanced, and was in favour with God and with men.

وقالت اسألك يا سيدي. حية هي نفسك يا سيدي انا المرأة التي وقفت لديك هنا تصلّي الى الرب.

περι του παιδιου τουτου εδεομην· και ο Κυριος εδωκεν εις εμε την αιτησιν μου, την οποιαν ητησα παρ' αυτου·

English

And a man of God came to Heli, and said, Thus says the Lord, I plainly revealed myself to the house of thy father, when they were servants in Egypt to the house of Pharao.

لاجل هذا الصبي صلّيت فاعطاني الرب سؤلي الذي سألته من لدنه.

οθεν και εγω εδανεισα αυτο εις τον Κυριον· πασας τας ημερας της ζωης αυτου θελει εισθαι δανεισμενον εις τον Κυριον. Και προσεκυνησεν εκει τον Κυριον.

English

And I chose the house of thy father out of all the tribes of Israel to minister to me in the priest’s office, to go up to my altar, and to burn incense, and to wear an ephod. And I gave to the house of thy father all the offerings by fire of the children of Israel for food.

وانا ايضا قد اعرته للرب. جميع ايام حياته هو عارية للرب. وسجد هناك للرب

And wherefore hast thou looked upon my incense-offering and my meat-offering with a shameless eye, and hast honoured thy sons above me, so that they should bless themselves with the first-fruits of every sacrifice of Israel before me?
