Τις ανθρωπος εξ υμων εαν εχη εκατον προβατα και χαση εν εξ αυτων, δεν αφινει τα ενενηκοντα εννεα εν τη ερημω και υπαγει ζητων το απολωλος, εωσου ευρη αυτο;
English
What man who is among you, who hath a hundred sheep, if he should lose one of them,--leaveth he not the ninety-nine on (the) desert, and goeth, and seeketh for that which was lost, until he find it?

ويأتي الى بيته ويدعو الاصدقاء والجيران قائلا لهم افرحوا معي لاني وجدت خروفي الضال.
Και ελθων εις τον οικον, συγκαλει τους φιλους και τους γειτονας, λεγων προς αυτους· Συγχαρητε μοι, διοτι ευρον το προβατον μου το απολωλος.
English
And if he should come to the house, he calleth his friends and his neighbours, saying to them: "Rejoice all with me, because I found my sheep which was lost.

اقول لكم انه هكذا يكون فرح في السماء بخاطئ واحد يتوب اكثر من تسعة وتسعين بارا لا يحتاجون الى توبة.
Η τις γυνη εχουσα δεκα δραχμας, εαν χαση δραχμην μιαν, δεν αναπτει λυχνον και σαρονει την οικιαν και ζητει επιμελως, εως οτου ευρη αυτην;
English
Or what woman who has ten half didrachmas, if she should lose one of them, lighteth not a lamp, and sweepeth the house, and seeketh carefully until she find it?

واذا وجدته تدعو الصديقات والجارات قائلة افرحن معي لاني وجدت الدرهم الذي اضعته.
Και ειπεν ο νεωτερος αυτων προς τον πατερα· Πατερ, δος μοι το ανηκον μερος της περιουσιας. Και διεμοιρασεν εις αυτους τα υπαρχοντα αυτου.
English
and the younger of (lit. who was in) them said to his father: "My father, give to me my portion of the substance." And he divided the living among them.

وبعد ايام ليست بكثيرة جمع الابن الاصغر كل شيء وسافر الى كورة بعيدة وهناك بذّر ماله بعيش مسرف.
Και μετ' ολιγας ημερας συναξας παντα ο νεωτερος υιος, απεδημησεν εις χωραν μακραν και εκει διεσκορπισε την περιουσιαν αυτου ζων ασωτως.
English
And after not many days the younger son gathered everything, he went to (the) foreign (land) to a distant country; and he scattered his substance there, living dissolutely.

فلما انفق كل شيء حدث جوع شديد في تلك الكورة فابتدأ يحتاج.
Ελθων δε εις εαυτον, ειπε· Ποσοι μισθωτοι του πατρος μου περισσευουσιν αρτον, και εγω χανομαι υπο της πεινης.
English
But his right-mind (lit. heart) having come to him, he said: "How many are there of hirelings of my father, (who) have [the] bread in abundance, and I shall (lit. will) perish here in famine!

اقوم واذهب الى ابي واقول له يا ابي اخطأت الى السماء وقدامك.
Και σηκωθεις ηλθε προς τον πατερα αυτου. Ενω, δε απειχεν ετι μακραν, ειδεν αυτον ο πατηρ αυτου και εσπλαγχνισθη, και δραμων επεπεσεν επι τον τραχηλον αυτου και κατεφιλησεν αυτον.
English
And he rose, he came to his father. But yet being distant from him, his father saw him, and had compassion, he ran, he threw himself upon his neck, and kissed his mouth.

فقال له الابن يا ابي اخطأت الى السماء وقدامك ولست مستحقا بعد ان أدعى لك ابنا.
Και ο πατηρ ειπε προς τους δουλους αυτου· Φερετε εξω την στολην την πρωτην και ενδυσατε αυτον, και δοτε δακτυλιδιον εις την χειρα αυτου και υποδηματα εις τους ποδας,

And his father said to his servants: "Be quick, bring out the first robe, and clothe him; and put (lit. give) a ring on (lit. to) his hand, and shoe on (lit. to) his feet:
Ο δε αποκριθεις ειπε προς τον πατερα· Ιδου, τοσα ετη σε δουλευω, και ποτε εντολην σου δεν παρεβην, και εις εμε ουδε εριφιον εδωκας ποτε δια να ευφρανθω μετα των φιλων μου.

But he having answered, said to his father: "Lo, how many years do I serve thee? and I never transgressed a commandment of thine: and to me thou never gavest a kid, that I might delight myself with my friends:

ولكن لما جاء ابنك هذا الذي اكل معيشتك مع الزواني ذبحت له العجل المسمن.
επρεπε δε να ευφρανθωμεν και να χαρωμεν, διοτι ο αδελφος σου ουτος νεκρος ητο και ανεζησε, και απολωλως ητο και ευρεθη.
English
It was (imperf.) right that we should delight ourselves and rejoice: because this thy brother was (imperf.) dead, and he lived; he was (imperf.) lost, and we found him."'
