Οσοι δε εδεχθησαν αυτον, εις αυτους εδωκεν εξουσιαν να γεινωσι τεκνα Θεου, εις τους πιστευοντας εις το ονομα αυτου·
English
but they who received him to them--he gave authority to them to become (lit. do) sons of God (without the usual weak article)--them who believe his name.

οιτινες ουχι εξ αιματων ουδε εκ θεληματος σαρκος ουδε εκ θεληματος ανδρος, αλλ' εκ Θεου εγεννηθησαν.
English
And they were not of blood, nor were they of (the) wish of flesh, nor were they of (the) wish of man, but they were born of God (weak definite article).

والكلمة صار جسدا وحلّ بيننا ورأينا مجده مجدا كما لوحيد من الآب مملوءا نعمة وحقا.
Και ο Λογος εγεινε σαρξ και κατωκησε μεταξυ ημων, και ειδομεν την δοξαν αυτου, δοξαν ως μονογενους παρα του Πατρος, πληρης χαριτος και αληθειας.
English
And the word became (lit. did) flesh (indef. art.), and abode (lit. became) among us, and we saw his glory, as (the) glory of an only Son of his Father, full of grace and truth.

Ο Ιωαννης μαρτυρει περι αυτου και εφωναξε, λεγων· Ουτος ητο περι ου ειπον, Ο οπισω μου ερχομενος ειναι ανωτερος μου, διοτι ητο προτερος μου.
English
John beareth witness concerning him, and crieth out, saying: This (is) he, concerning whom I said, that he who cometh after me had precedence of me, because he was prior to me indeed.'
Και εγω δεν εγνωριζον αυτον· αλλ' ο πεμψας με δια να βαπτιζω εν υδατι εκεινος μοι ειπεν· εις οντινα ιδης το Πνευμα καταβαινον και μενον επ' αυτον, ουτος ειναι ο βαπτιζων εν Πνευματι Αγιω.
English
And I was knowing him not; but he who sent me to baptise in water, he said to me: "He upon whom thou seest the Spirit coming down and staying upon him, this is he who will baptise in (the, lit. a) Holy Spirit."
Στραφεις δε ο Ιησους και ιδων αυτους ακολουθουντας, λεγει προς αυτους· Τι ζητειτε; Οι δε ειπον προς αυτον, Ραββι, το οποιον ερμηνευομενον λεγεται, Διδασκαλε, που μενεις;

And Jesus having turned himself, and having seen them walking after him, said to them: 'For what sought ye?' And they said to him: 'Rabbi,' which they interpret, Teacher, 'where art thou abiding?'

Και εφερεν αυτον προς τον Ιησουν. Εμβλεψας δε εις αυτον ο Ιησους ειπε· Συ εισαι Σιμων, ο υιος του Ιωνα· συ θελεις ονομασθη Κηφας, το οποιον ερμηνευεται Πετρος.
English
This (man) brought him to Jesus: and Jesus having looked at him, said to him: Thou art Simon (the) son of John: thou shalt be called "Kepha,"' which they interpret Peter.'

في الغد اراد يسوع ان يخرج الى الجليل. فوجد فيلبس فقال له اتبعني.
Ευρισκει Φιλιππος τον Ναθαναηλ και λεγει προς αυτον· Εκεινον τον οποιον εγραψεν ο Μωυσης εν τω νομω και οι προφηται ευρηκαμεν, Ιησουν τον υιον του Ιωσηφ τον απο Ναζαρετ.
English
And Philip found Nathanael, and said to him: Him, concerning whom Moses wrote in the law and the prophets, we found; it (lit. who) is Jesus (the) son of Joseph, the (man) from Nazareth.'

Λεγει προς αυτον ο Ναθαναηλ· Ποθεν με γινωσκεις; Απεκριθη ο Ιησους και ειπε προς αυτον· Πριν ο Φιλιππος σε φωναξη, οντα υποκατω της συκης, ειδον σε.
English
Nathanael said to him: Where knewest thou me?' Jesus answered and said to him: Before that Philip called thee, thou being under the fig-tree, I saw thee.'

اجاب نثنائيل وقال له يا معلّم انت ابن الله. انت ملك اسرائيل.
Απεκριθη ο Ιησους και ειπε προς αυτον· Επειδη σοι ειπον· ειδον σε υποκατω της συκης, πιστευεις; μεγαλητερα τουτων θελεις ιδει.
English
Jesus answered, he said to him: 'Because I said to thee, that I saw thee under the fig-tree, believest thou? greater (things) than these thou shalt see.'

وقال له الحق الحق اقول لكم من الآن ترون السماء مفتوحة وملائكة الله يصعدون وينزلون على ابن الانسان
Και λεγει προς αυτον· Αληθως, αληθως σας λεγω· απο του νυν θελετε ιδει τον ουρανον ανεωγμενον και τους αγγελους του Θεου αναβαινοντας και καταβαινοντας επι τον Υιον του ανθρωπου.
English
And he said: Verily, verily, I say to you, that ye shall see (the) heaven opened, and the angels of God going up and coming down towards (the) Son of (the) man.'
